Professional Biography:
Craig T. Aune is enjoying his 29th year as Director of Bands and Music Department Chair at C.R. Prairie High School, having served as an instrumental music educator for a total career spanning thirty-one years. Under his direction, membership in the Prairie High School Band program has increased 250% and offerings within the band program have expanded to now include instrumental performance opportunities in Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Jazz I, Jazz II, the Prairie "Hawks" Marching Band, and the "Art of Noiz!" Pep Band, as well as in numerous Chamber Ensembles, Honor Band experiences, and a Performing Arts Tech class.

The growth and development of the C.R. Prairie High School Band program has included twenty-six consecutive years of Division I-Superior Ratings at State Marching Band Contest, and twenty-five Division I Ratings in the past twenty-six years at the annual State Large Group Contest. In addition, the Prairie High School Band program has been awarded Superior Ratings at national music competitions in Chicago, IL; St. Louis, MO; Anaheim, CA; Orlando, FL; and Nassau, Bahamas.

Mr. Aune earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1983, and was awarded his Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Coe College in 1998. Prior to accepting his current position at Prairie High School, Mr. Aune served as Director of Bands for grades 5-12 in Columbus, Nebraska; and as Director of Instrumental Music for grades 4-12 at the University of Northern Iowa's Price Laboratory School in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Mr. Aune is affiliated with numerous professional organizations, and has served as Guest Director for many area honor bands, including the Big East Conference, the Eastern Iowa Hawkeye Conference, the Coe College Junior High Honor Band, the Five-Seasons Middle School Honor Band, and the week-long University of Iowa All-State Music Camp.
